Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
Colbe Mazzarella hosts this week's episode of Life Matters where Professor Michael New is interviewed. Michael is an Assistant Professor of Social Research at the Busch School of Business at The Catholic University of America, researching pro-life issues through scientific methods including his background in statistics and political science. Topics discussed in this episode revolve around the changes being made to abortion laws across the country as consequence of the Dobbs decision by The Supreme Court in 2022, where the previous Roe v. Wade ruling that recognized a woman's constitutional right to abortion was overturned. Informed consent laws, The Hyde Amendment (a federal law that restricts the use of federal funds, including those from Medicaid, for most abortions), "chemical abortions" and their increased risks, pregnancy resources and their availability, and the trend in abortion rates formulate the conversation offered on Life Matters by Colbe and Michael as they navigate the current state of abortion laws impacting the nation.

Falling in love with being a veteran, issues and tumultuous trials with substance abuse and the importance of sacrifices made by Black America, including challenges faced in efforts supporting the foundation for what we now know as the United States of America, are some of the conversations presented by host and veteran Haywood Fennell in this week's TOPRadio. Veterans are an overlooked and underrepresented resource in U.S. societies according to veteran accounts. Mental health and institutional racism are discussed in the context of veteran experiences as they seek support from the services specifically designed for their access. Literacy, critical thinking skills, housing and nutrition of our youth are discussed as the education system tries to account for the needs of children under pressure from the current political, technological and cultural climate. The Other Page Radio brings us the real events impacting American lives and the strength our veterans can provide in offering solutions to the issues facing our communities. We need to heal together as we encounter the traumas and dramas that continue to afflict veterans, among other members, in American society, Haywood invites us to the healing process with his words of experience and wisdom.
